Lead The City
NewThing Chicagoland is proud to be partnering with The Chicago Partnership for their upcoming Lead The City Conference, June 6, 10 AM - 9 PM at Progressive Baptist (3658 Wentworth Ave).
This year's theme Table Over Tribe focuses on leading through divisive times with unity and faith and we're excited to be partnering with our friends from And Campaign, GLOO, BARNA, and Exponential for this timely and important discussion.
Keynote Speakers:
Justin Giboney: an ordained minister, attorney, and political strategist in Atlanta. He is also the president of the AND Campaign, a Christian civic organization. Giboney has managed successful campaigns for elected officials in Georgia and referendums relating to Atlanta’s transportation and water infrastructure. In 2012 and 2016, Georgia’s 5th congressional district elected him as a delegate for the Democratic National Convention. A former Vanderbilt University football player and law student, Justin served on the Urban League of Greater Atlanta Board of Directors. He’s the coauthor of Compassion (&) Conviction: The AND Campaign’s Guide to Faithful Civic Engagement and author of the forthcoming book Don’t Let Nobody Turn You Around: How the Black Church’s Public Witness Leads Us out of the Culture War.
Carey Nieuwhof: Carey Nieuwhof is a best-selling leadership author, speaker, podcaster, former attorney, and church planter. His online content is accessed by leaders over 1.5 million times a month, and he is the founder of The Art of Leadership Academy. Carey’s mission is to reduce the decline in the church. He has extensive experience helping organizations lead through change, develop high-capacity teams, and deepen their personal growth along with their health. He speaks to leaders worldwide about leadership, change, and personal growth. His best-selling book, At Your Best: How to Get Time, Energy, and Priorities Working in Your Favor, is designed to help every leader escape stress and begin living at a sustainable pace and has been profiled by Forbes, Fast Company, and Business Insider. Carey and his wife, Toni, live north of Toronto, Canada and have two grown sons.

Join us IN-PERSON for a special Feb 20 Chicagoland Movement Gathering, 10 AM - 1 PM, in partnership with The Chicago Partnership! In fact, we are being hosted by Renewal Church of Chicago, Lead Pastor Derrick Puckett and President of The Chicago Partnership! We will also hear from Jon Ferguson, Derrick Puckett, Brian Dye, Rodrigo Cano and our special Guest Speaker: Michael Carrion.
Rev. Carrion serves as Vice President of Church Planting and Leadership Development at Redeemer City to City in New York City and is the regional coach for church planting and development for the Evangelical Covenant Church. Rev. Michael Carrion, is the founding pastor, and now Bishop of The Promised Land Covenant Churches in the North and South Bronx, and the founding chairman and superintendent of the Bronx Academy of Promise K-8 Charter School. He also serves on the board of the National Latino Evangelical Coalition and is currently on the Mayor’s Faith Sector Advisory Council.

Hugh Halter and Cheryl, as well as their children and truckload of grandchildren, all live in Alton Illinois. They have been missionaries in North America for more than thirty years. They’ve planted two churches and in 2016 founded Lantern Network in Alton, Illinois.
Lantern Network is a kingdom ecosystem committed to incubating good works and benevolent businesses to bless the city. Hugh speaks extensively across the globe, encouraging innovative forms of church, and when home loves to help Cheryl run Rí Beag Refuge, an equine therapy farm.
Hugh is a leading missional voice, authoring such books as The Tangible Kingdom, AND: The Gathered and Scattered Church, Flesh, and, most recently, the Life as Mission Series, which seeks to equip Christians to live the missionary life of Jesus in their everyday context.

Ed Stetzer, Ph.D., is a professor and dean at Wheaton College where he also serves as Executive Director of the Wheaton College Billy Graham Center. He has planted, revitalized, and pastored churches, trained pastors and church planters on six continents, has earned two master’s degrees and two doctorates, and has written hundreds of articles and a dozen books. He is Regional Director of Lausanne North America, is the editor-in-chief of Outreach Magazine, and is frequently cited in, interviewed by, and writes for news outlets such as USAToday and CNN. He is Founding Editor of The Gospel Project, a curriculum used by more than 1.7 million individuals each week for bible story. He serves as interim teaching pastor of Calvary Church in New York City and serves as teaching pastor at Highpoint Church.
